Mango trees are very common in the Philippines, especially in Cebu (central Philippines) where the artist resides,. Summer is a harvest season for mangoes. It is fast growing and sturdy, and its wood has a quality. The artist has thought about the difficulty trees to continue serving the needs of the furniture or the housing sector because trees grows slow in the forest. He thought that mango trees have the vast potential of filling this need by venturing into a second project. The artist constructed a box, which he calls the mango board- and filled this with about 60- 80 mango seeds. (Most of these were products of his adult mango trees in the yard. And the rest were of mangoes bought from the market.) To prevent the flies from infecting the seeds, the artist has placed pieces of coconut husks on top of the mango board and allowed the mango seeds some peace. Finally, after a year- the mango plants have sprouted and these have shown that growth of plants are so close together- which is what the artist wanted. In time, when the plants grow, the trunks become so entwined together that it may be possible to fashion the cutting of plywood or boards from this mango tango.
